O Lord Let not thy wrath that hight assend
In corecting me to make of me an end
My weakness pleads for mercy Lord yitt more yitt
My paned boones desires some ease to gitt
Butt tis not all my perplext soule yit more
Wth longing Lord when thou will it restore
Come soule preseruer me from troubles take
For noe deserts of mine but for thy mercys sake
Ô who is that from graues cold shady bankes
Will call to mind a thought of giuing thankes
How doth my mournfull soule when bed I'me in
Wth anguish drone & make't in teares to swim
Greefe causes dimness in my watry eyes
And aged growne wth waching enimys
But Lord sense thou hast heard my voyce I'le say
To vaine & sinfull men depart away
For to thy throne ô Lord my sute has come
Thou My assending prayrs receave'd thou hast done
Lett them whose malice doe against me burne
Fret as ashamed & so no more returne

Modernized Text

Oh Lord, let not thy wrath that height ascend,
Correcting me to make of me an end.
My weakness pleads for mercy, Lord, more yet;
My pained bones desire some ease to get.
But 'tis not all my perplexed soule, yet more
With longing, Lord, when thou will it restore.
Come, soul preserver, me from troubles take,
For no deserts of mine but thy mercys sake.
Oh, who is that from grave's cold shady banks
Will call to mind a thought of giving thanks?
How doth my mournful soul, when bed I'm in,
With anguish drone and maked [made] in tears to swim.
Grief causes dimness in my watery eyes
And aged grown with watching enemies.
But, Lord, since thou hast heard my voice, I'll say
To vain and sinful men: depart away!
For to thy throne, oh Lord, my suit has come;
Thou my ascending prayers received hast done.
Let them whose malice do against me burn
Fret as ashamed and so no more return.
