Transcription

Blest is the man in walking daly shuns
The Pernitious Councel that that from the' wicked Comes
Nor to the sinners paths his steps doeth bend
Or he yitt up to Scorners chaire assend
Who in the early morn'e & euening laite
On lawes deuine makes choyse to meditate
As by the runing streames the well sett tree
His fruit in season yeild, so the iust shall be
Whos leafe shall neuer fade & what he doth
Shall thriue as itt & shal be fruitfull both
But With men plung'd in fire itt farr differ far
But wth the wicked itt is diffrent farre
As chaff tost in the Ayre, so they are
Nor shall he stand fore th' impartial Judge
Or mongst the iust who in sins way doe trudge

Modernized Text

Blessed is the man [who] in walking daily shuns
Pernicious counsel that from the wicked comes,
Nor to the sinner's paths his steps doth bend,
Or he yet up to scorner's chair ascend;
Who in the early morn & evening late
On laws divine makes choice to meditate.
As by the running stream the well-set tree
His fruit in season yields the just shall be,
Whose leaf shall never fade and what he doth
Shall thrive as it and shall be fruitful both.
But with the wicked it is diffrent far;
As chaff tossed in the air, so they are;
Nor shall he stand [be]fore the impartial Judge
Or 'mongst the just who in sin's way do trudge.
